George Chira Kirumba
George Chira Kirumba is an Environmental Engineer by profession. He is a holder of a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China as well as a Bachelor of Science in Water Engineering from Kenyatta University(Kenya). Mr.Kirumba has a broad experience in environmental pollution control. Air, water and soil pollution caused by failure by industries and households to conform to existing environmental regulations and standards calls for concerted regional and global efforts in addressing the menace. Mr.Kirumba worked as a research associate in the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Solutions for Megacities (E2S2) Project between 2012 and 2015.This project created a common platform for engineers to ensure that both megacities develop sustainable technologies. In addition, Mr.Kirumba worked as a research assistant in the Yangtze River Water Quality Project. He also worked as a Technical Assistant at Ruiru Water and Sewerage Company, Kenya, between 2010 and 2011, the scope of work being ensuring that both the waste water and drinking water conformed to existing quality standards after the treatment process. Based on his professional training as an environmental engineer, his contribution in ensuring that engineered systems conformed to existing Chinese Environmental Protection Standards ensured that the air, water and soil environments remain protected from uncontrolled pollution. In addition, having lived in China for about four years helped him understand the various cultural aspects needed in creating all-inclusive technologies and innovations aimed at environmental protection and restoration.
